Artist Statement
My work is focused on realism by using local and non local colors in a variety of mediums, including markers with colored pencils, acrylic paint, or charcoal and dry pastels. I love to create life on the canvas/paper by using refrence images and drawing from life. People are my favorite subject and I am intrigued by the face and how a face can tell an entire story.
I choose to work with mediums that are loose and give me more room to layer. Some of my processes include having a base layer of marker, then adding details with colored pencils. I also choose acrylic because of its layering abilities and how quickly each layer dries.
My techniques include blending and scumbling to create values and textures within my pieces. I am skilled at getting detailed with my work and something that makes my work stand out is the non local colors I tend to use or the bright pops of color in my pieces. These colors help to give life to my work.
My work transforms the mundane into alluring, and beautiful creations. Often, we as humans go through life seeing faces and people, but not truly stopping to look at them and realize how each one is s unique and individual. I take those people and faces and bring out their beauty and individuality. People are my passion.
